| Programme of preparations for the Presidency accepted by the Council of Ministers
| | Council of Ministers accepted the programme of preparations for the Polish Presidency of the European Union Council, submitted by the Government Plenipotentiary for the Preparation of Governmental Administrative Bodies and the Republic of Poland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The programme defines work that should be taken between 2009-2011 to prepare Poland efficiently for holding the EU Presidency in 2011. The tasks of the Polish Presidency will focus on the three most important issues: holding the chairmanship of the EU Council meetings and its working groups, representing the Council before other EU institutions and effective cooperation in the framework of the legislative process as well as representing European Union in relations with the third countries and international organizations. The first outline of the Polish priorities will be ready in 2009. It is provided that one of the major points of the Polish Presidency will be actions concerning the EU budget review and negotiations on guidelines of the new financial perspectives for years 2014-2020.
